Los Cabos

Los Cabos could quite possibly be the perfect embodiment of a fisherman’s Eden. Its alluring waters even drew Ernest Hemingway, the godfather of modern sportfishing, to sample its bounty. What used to be a remote coastal village, an aquatic gem at the end of a long desert highway, is now an easily accessible fishing destination open to anyone wishing to get a taste of world-class angling. Flanked by the sprawling Pacific Ocean on one side and the Sea of Cortez on the other, the Baja California peninsula is surrounded by prolific, nutrient-rich waters that fuel an immense marine food chain, where diverse inshore and offshore opportunities hold promise of a day’s bountiful catch.

Inshore fishing entails patrolling the rocky shoreline, usually on a stroll, up to the lighthouse and back to entice roosterfish, snapper, rainbow runners, yellowtail and grouper to come up and hit seductively moving lures. Those fishing from the surf can take a stroll just past Lover’s Beach on Land’s End. The beaches right off El Arco and Pueblo Bonito hotel hold jacks, rainbow runners, roosterfish and bonito that will eagerly whack a metal lure or popper cast in the morning hours. Offshore, Fall and winter are excellent for all-around action. Black and blue marlin run July through October. July through November, dorado (aka mahi mahi and dolphinfish) can be readily caught. Yellowfin tuna hit hard September through January, and wahoo and sailfish round out the mix of offerings, with the warm waters of the late summer and early fall providing the best results. Bottom Fishing for jacks, grouper, roosterfish and snapper can take place all year; and hammerheads, threshers and makos can be found in the winter and spring.

Cancun/Riviera Maya

Just minutes after setting out from El Cid Marina Cancún, our fishing charters reach prime sportfishing territory, and our professional crews will have your lines in the water in no time.
